How long has this exchange been going on?
The exchange of teams between Anne Arundel County and Stockport, England began in 1976 and has been continuous ever since. Over 600 Anne Arundel youth lacrosse players have “crossed the ocean” to play lacrosse.

Do you travel to England every year?
Anne Arundel teams travel to England in July of odd numbered years. England teams travel to the US on even numbered years.

What criteria are judged when selecting the team that will travel to England?
Players are selected from submitted applications based on: attitude, emotional maturity and lacrosse skills. In that order.

What is the cost for the trip?
The cost for the 2007 England Tour is $1650.

Do the players have to attend any practices before leaving?
Attendance at all Practices is mandatory. Practices will begin in mid-June. Practices will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings.

If you host an English player, are you more likely to be selected to travel the next year?
Team rosters are filled by the following criteria:

• Boys that have hosted an English player and have NOT traveled to England with us before.
• Representation from as many youth recreation councils as possible
• Player positions

What are the players most likely to remember from this experience?
The most rewarding aspect of the tour is the development of lifelong friendships based on the experiences shared with host families by touring players.

What is expected of the player to bring with him to England?

• Attend all practices, meetings, etc.
• Complete a sports medical exam. Please turn in ASAP.
• Have a valid passport. Due ASAP.
• Personal clothing and spending money (spending money due prior to June 30th)
• Enthusiasm and team dedication.

What will AAYLC provide to my son if he is selected to travel to England?

• Enthusiasm and team dedication.
• Team Uniform: high quality team jersey, shorts and team jacket
• Team travel bag
• Team travel shirt
• T-shirts (at least 3)
• Game gift: Each AAYLC player give to English player after each game
• Host gift: Presented to Host family.
• Coach gift: Presented to English coaches after each game.
• Photographs: Enlarged team photo and individual photo
• All travel expenses including airfare, buses and trains
• Tour trips to London, Warwick Castle, Stratford-on-Avon
• Gifts for Stockport Metro players when they visit Maryland
• Opportunity to meet new people that could become liflong friends, both here and in England.
• Provide each player with the highest quality lacrosse instruction available.
• Provide participation in an “extra” lacrosse session of 6 games.
• Provide opportunity to participate in an experience of a lifetime.
• Bring back an older boy than we take to England.
